Mudhoney is the debut studio album by American grunge band Mudhoney, released in 1989. It was their first LP after several singles and an EP (Superfuzz Bigmuff). The album, when bought as a new vinyl record, is also packaged with a poster of the band (Photo by Michael Lavine).
Profile: American alternative rock band. Formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1988, following the split in the seminal Seattle band Green River by vocalist Mark Arm and former guitarist Steve Turner. Though they never reached the fame of their label and city mates, Mudhoney were very much part of the early 90s grunge scene and are one of the most enduring groups.
Mudhoney's first self-titled album came as a bit of a disappointment after the group's initial singles, and from the distance of over a decade it's even more of a sore thumb in the band's extensive discography. It's good, to be sure, but not great; the essential spark of the band got a bit lost over 40 minutes, where in three minutes' space the quartet could be the best act on the planet.
By Mudhoney standards, Digital Garbage’s relentless topicality practically makes it their first true concept album. Mudhoney are hardly the only band fretting about the fate of humanity these days, but they are the only band with Mark Arm, whose sneering presence ensures that even the most woke proclamations will be in gloriously bad taste
Mudhoney were: Vocals and guitar : Mark Arm Lead guitar : Steve Turner Bass : Matt Lukin Drums : Dan Peters. The album its self has really captured their live shows and shined it up a bit so you can listen to. One of their most underrated albums. 1. This Gift Great start with the rhythmic drumming and distorted guitar.
