The songs on Lost In Translation are straightforward, no frills style rock that don’t indulge in electronic elements or too many experimental sounds. They chose to focus on the songwriting, which is pretty solid all the way through. The Soft Underground was formed in New York City by drummer, Andrew McCarty and guitarist, Charlie Hickey, after they met at music school. The two bonded over their enthusiasm of bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine. After many gigs playing under different incarnations of the band, the duo eventually recruited vocalist, Brannon Barnett, before beginning work on their debut album, Lost in Translation. Indie Blog Nation said, "every minor detail was perfected; great production and flow," while Dayz of Purple and Orange wrote that the band, "have provided enough variation in one album that would see other bands through a career. This is a well thought out, and put together project that is a joy to listen to from beginning to end. "Psychedelic Audio" kicks starts the album with a great vibe and lyrics. Reminds me of the type of song you would hear while watching the Sons of Anarchy. The next song I really enjoyed is titled "Dreamers. I have already added this song to my gym playlist. This song will have your head bopping and your blood flowing. On October 30, The Soft Underground will release Lost in Translation, through independent label, Space Mall Records.
