Robert Leo Hackett (January 31, 1915 – June 7, 1976) was an American jazz musician who played trumpet, cornet, and guitar with the bands of Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Hackett was a featured soloist on some of the Jackie Gleason mood music albums during the 1950s. Hackett was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He made his name as a follower of cornet player Bix Beiderbecke.

Bobby Hackett was born under the name of Robert Leo Hackett on the 31st January, 1915 in Providence, Rhode Island. Bobby, who was later to become the most important white representative of Dixieland jazz, learned banjo, guitar and violin as a child. He left school at 14 and played from then on with local dance orchestras. He eventually learned the trumpet and performed at the beginning of his career with Pee Wee Russel and Teddy Roy in Boston.

Bobby Hackett(January 31, 1915 – June 7, 1976)was a legendary Jazz musician who played Trumpet. The record – as well as all of Gleason's next 10 albums - went gold. In 1965, he toured with singer Tony Bennett. In 1966 and 1967 Hackett accompanied Bennett on two European tours In 2012, Hackett was selected to be inducted into the Rhode Island.

The Bobby Hackett Quartet was recorded in March 1959 with Dave McKenna, Bob Carter, and Dick Scott. This disc does not include material from Hawaii Swings, a record that came together at three sessions in April of 1959. Everything here is skillfully presented, and Hackett demonstrates the durable finesse which characterized his efforts beginning in the mid-'30s and for decades thereafter.
