If There Is Light, It Will Find You is the seventh studio album by American rock band Senses Fail. It charted at number 57 on the Billboard 200. Bassist Gavin Caswell moved to rhythm guitar, resulting in the inclusion of bassist Jason Millbank. In October and November 2016, the group supported Sum 41 on their headlining US tour. Following the tour's conclusion, the group took some time off to write material for their next record
According to the band, this album is the first time Senses Fail vocalist Buddy Nielsen has fully written an album alone. A statement on the record reads: Nielsen experienced life-altering shifts over the past two years that have contributed directly to the making of this record. The band has always been known for pushing boundaries lyrically and addressing topical issues from stage during a live show, but this time around you can feel the weight of uncontrollable stressors wearing down on Buddy as he navigates the listener through his personal life, from song to song. Underneath the album’s brighter, melody-driven exterior lurks a dark fascination with the concept of mortality – creating a juxtaposition of light and shadows that directly reflects on Senses Fail’s marked history. It's not a bad album but holy fuck as a whole it drags like crazy, they were much more varied and creative on their last two albums, shouldn't have abandoned that, big mistake. On the bright side, it's still much better than the Speak The Truth Even If Your Voice Shakes album. I enjoyed the singles, then Elevator To The Gallows made me nut, but the more I listened to it the more I started getting bored, every song is very similar in tempo and vibe, it gets incredibly tiring. I have to agree.

Like all Senses Fail releases, the band’s music is fuelled by whatever emotions and life journeys that frontman James Buddy Neilsen has experienced during or in the lead up to the creation of any given record. And their new album, ‘If There Is Light, It Will Find You‘ is absolutely no different. Of course, what really bolsters this record’s lasting appeal and impact like every other Senses Fail release, is the sheer level of personal input and emotional value that can be extracted from it.

In the seventeen years Senses Fail has been a band, they’ve had to regroup countless times with fresh thoughts and ideas. Amazingly, they’ve kept the same post-hardore punk rock sound but maintained a progressive vibe that has moved the band into a whole new direction. Their seventh studio album, If There Is Light, It Will Find You, is a current punk masterpiece that tells a riveting tale of lead singer Buddy Nielsen’s journey-from bandmates who fled, to his wife and daughter, to recovering from the trauma life can bring-Buddy tells it all in this album. The album isn’t just the cynical emo Senses Fail has been known for in years past. There’s a lighter side to it, hence the name: ‘If There Is Light, It Will Find You’.
